Skytech Director Julian Balaam holds a Masters Degree in Engineering from Cambridge University and has more than 30 years’ experience in civil aircraft marketing and finance.
His specific understanding of airline operations, aircraft performance and economics has been gained during six years as a Marketing Executive at Airbus SA and British Aerospace following which Julian joined Bombardier Shorts as a Sales Director where, as a fluent French speaker, he operated primarily in the European and African regions. As a director of Skytech, his responsibilities currently include the marketing of both jet and turboprop aircraft for sale and lease, the management of leased aircraft and the marketing, negotiation and closing of complex aircraft financing structures. Julian has been a member of the Board of Directors of ISTAT since March 2019.
Joël, who is based in Zürich, joined Skytech-AIC’s Analysis & Marketing team in 2018 after working successfully with the company during the preparation of his Master thesis for an MSc. in Air Transport Management at Cranfield University.
He was the recipient of the ISTAT 2016 Gilbert W. Speed Memorial Scholarship and completed the ISTAT 2.0 University programme which equipped him with an initial understanding of aircraft leasing, trading, fleet evaluations, transaction modelling and lease negotiations.
These studies followed the completion of a Lufthansa pilot-training programme and the receipt of a BSc Eng. in Aviation System Engineering and Management in Bremen, Germany. Joël currently splits his time between working for Skytech-AIC and flying the Airbus A320 as a first officer for Lufthansa subsidiary, Edelweiss Air.
A fluent German speaker, Joël participates in aircraft evaluations and aircraft marketing on behalf of Skytech-AIC’s clients together with aircraft performance and economic analysis and client fleet evaluations.
Dean Osborne has a 30+ year career in aircraft engineering, leasing and marketing.

Technical Director Jeff Solomon has over 30 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance planning and engineering.
Initially a licensed engineer with British Airways, Jeff moved into engineering management and then joined Airclaims (Ascend) as an aircraft maintenance consultant. He founded Aviation Support Group, a highly respected aircraft inspection firm which was sold to Charles Taylor plc in 2009.
Jeff is one of the industry’s most experienced and respected aircraft inspectors whose experience includes pretty much all civil aircraft types from corporate jets to the Airbus A380.

He started as a marketing apprentice with Britten-Norman, manufacturers of Islander aircraft and progressing through to a number of senior appointments with Short Brothers plc, a major aerospace manufacturer and a member of the Bombardier Inc group of companies.
His experience includes directing the sales and marketing of civil and military transport aircraft, participating in the development of sales finance structures for Shorts’ airliner programmes and leading the market development effort for a new jet transport programme. As a founder and director of Skytech-AIC, he has worked successfully to bring new aircraft financing, marketing and management products to the attention of the world’s airlines and financial institutions. Richard is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, London.
