Skytech-AIC celebrates 30 years of service to the air transport industry in 2022.
It was in the summer of 1992 that the company was formed, initially, as a joint-venture between Skytech Aviation Services Limited, owned by Julian Balaam, John Taylor and Richard Noble, and Aviation Investment Consultants owned by Bill Fraser. The company rapidly established itself in the aircraft finance, marketing and management field and over the years built a stellar reputation for delivering above and beyond client expectations. Early clients included the Maersk Group, Meridiana and GB Airways. The company built its own portfolio of Boeing 747-300, Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 777-200 aircraft on lease to clients including Singapore Airlines, South African Airways and Thai Airways International, and soon extended its asset management capabilities to third parties: managing everything from Shorts 360 regional turboprops to Airbus A380s. The company’s airfinance expertise has been employed extensively by clients and culminated in the award by AirFinance Journal of the Operating Lease Deal of the Year in 2018 for the first sale and leaseback transaction involving the Airbus A220-300 (Bombardier CS300 at the time).
The company’s team was strengthened by the arrival of Jeff Solomon as Technical Director and, most recently, by the addition of Joël Wagner, and activities expanded to include airline advice: particularly with respect to fleet matters. With current clients including Air Baltic, Air Greenland, the Singapore Airlines Group, the TUI Group and a number of other airlines and financial institutions, the company has closed transactions on 256 aircraft valued at more than $5.4bn.
Today Skytech-AIC is more innovative than ever and looking forward to the next 30 years!
